It’s Summer which means 2 things….
- My kids are looking to me for things to do &
- Its HOT!
This activity satisfies #1 & it REQUIRES #2. WINNING!
I’ve wanted to do this with the kiddos for a long time; I saw it first from a fellow blogger, Desert Chica. Feel Free to check out her blog post as well!
Below I’ve detailed the supplies we used & our finished product!
The kids enjoyed the process but enjoyed the treat at the end even more ;).
Let me know if you do this one!
Love ya’ll,
Kai
THE FINAL PRODUCT
THE SUPPLIES
The list of supplies & written Steps are below the picture

- Pizza Box
- Box Cutter
- Black Cardboard Paper
- Tape
- Plastic Wrap
- Aluminum Foil
- Skewer
- Graham Cracker
- Marshmallow
- Hershey’s Chocolate
- Poster & Markers (optional)
Steps
The list of supplies & written Steps are below the picture
- Without cutting the piece completely off, cut a flap in the lid of the box.
- Cover the inside of the flap with aluminum foil
- Cover the bottom of the INSIDE of the box with black cardboard paper
- Lift the flap & cover the window of the box with Plastic Wrap (we had to tape it in place). Make sure you still allow the lid of the box to open.
- Stack all but the top graham cracker inside the “oven” & then place the “oven” directly in the sunlight
- Watch & Wait! We called it “done” when the chocolate was super melty (which literally took 30 minutes; maybe less!)
- Add the top graham & Bon Apetite!
- Results: The marshmallows were soft – ish but not gooey. We definitely could have waited but we were too eager!
- Important note: it was still delicious ;P
I hope you have fun with this!
Love,
Kai
