I have used this method for YEARS…literally since my 6.5 year old son was a baby. Pat (husband) & I have always believed that you can bring a kid/kids to just about anything so long as you pack well & we have pretty much proven that. With our 3 kids in tow, we go camping, boating, hiking up a literal mountain, on road trips, to restaurants, to events, & eeeverything in between.
It really doesn’t matter where or how long we are going, I ALWAYS pack for the kiddos using this method. So, if its a 2 hour football game or a 2 week trip, think in these FOUR categories.
EAT, PLAY, POTTY, SLEEP
If its a longer stretch of time, I quite literally pack a bag for snacks, a bag for toys (indoor, outdoor, car, & tabletop), & a bag for sleep. My kids are older (6.5, 5, & 3.5) so I dont have to pack much for potty business (although, I NEVER forget to bring potty seat covers).
If its just a quick trip out or a short function, I can fit all 4 categories in one bag. If I’m being real, we could go somewhere for only 20 minutes & still have a need in each category lol such is life with kids ;P.
Here’s everything in my “on the go” bag now (Everything is linked below the pictures)
